ABOUT ME

Hello and welcome to my blog.

My name is Lauren and I am a recent graduate who now works as a research associate in a cancer biology lab.

I am passionate about the importance of communicating scientific discoveries and information well to the general public. My hope is that this blog can be a space where people come to learn more about science, research and technology in an enjoyable way. Historically, scientists have not always been good at communicating their work to others which has led to mistrust, a lack of understanding and spread of misinformation. So hopefully I can play a small part in bridging this divide and connecting society to science.

I also want to share my own experiences in biomedical research for anyone who is interested in learning more about this field or wanting to follow a similar path. I am originally from Zimbabwe and grew up there until I decided to pursue my undergraduate degree in the United States. I moved to Dickinson College in rural Pennsylvania, not knowing much about what I was getting myself into, but I have been in the US since then and am still so thankful that I made that move. As a woman and an international student, I believe that I have a unique perspective and so hopefully you'll enjoy coming along this journey with me!
